Deloitte’s One Team Creative Services (OTCS) group produces multimedia, video, animation, presentations, marketing materials, client deliverables, and proposals that must be error-free and of professional quality, meeting Deloitte’s brand standards. The graphic design intern will assist in creative design, formatting, production, and delivery of rich media projects, professional-level presentations, animation, proposals, reports, marketing materials, and other corporate collateral. This position requires proficient experience in multiple software packages and the ability to produce work consistently and accurately.

 

Position Responsibilities

Complete graphic design projects as assigned by OTCS leads, including the following:

  • Produce quality work in a fast-paced environment within an internal process-driven systems structure, meeting deadlines and client expectations for quality, creativity, and accuracy
  • Design and format interactive content based on customer instruction
  • Collaborate with customers and design professionals in order to produce effective and accurate work
  • Work closely with other design professionals to solve problems and communicate resolutions
  • Complete associated administrative tasks

 

Qualifications
  • Must be a Junior or Senior in a graphic design program (Portfolio should include samples of animation, multimedia projects, presentation design, marketing materials, and other design pieces that reflect capabilities)
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
  • Knowledge of Web standards such as HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and javascript; ability to code and implement a variety of scripting solutions for Web pages a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition is a plus
  • Team player with a positive attitude, strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to follow directions, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and respond to urgent requests in a positive manner
  • Good organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Able to organize projects and project files intuitively, giving someone unfamiliar with the project the ability to understand structure

PublicSource is an online news organization in Pittsburgh, providing Pennsylvania citizens with in-depth information. We write stories to explain complex issues in the areas of criminal justice, the environment, health, and politics.

We collaborate with about 50 media partners across the state, including newspapers, radio, television and other online news providers. Last year, our most shared story reached nearly six million readers.

Our major stories are in-depth and use graphics, data, maps and investigative techniques to tell readers about news outside the breaking news of each day.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Generate story ideas, comprehensively research the topics and identify sources.
  • Approach a variety of sources, from top politicians to neighborhood advocates, on sensitive topics without hesitation.
  • Write clearly and accurately and has an eye for opportunities to incorporate data, photos, graphics and video.
  • Someone with solid organizational and time management skills.
  • A team player who will jump into the mix of a small newsroom with enthusiasm and ideas.
  • A detail oriented fact-checker who knows the appropriate way to source facts.

PublicSource is a nonprofit newsroom with a small team of dedicated journalists. We will ask an intern to contribute to writing some daily news posts and to fact-check other reporters’ stories. We will coach interns on forming in-depth story ideas and organizing and distilling mountains of information in an engaging way.

If reporting and writing isn’t your thing, we would entertain applications by students with skills in graphical design, coding, data analysis, photography, videography and marketing.

Hollow Oak Land Trust Intern

Hollow Oak is looking for a student intern majoring in marketing, communications, writing, public relations or a related field. The role will involve mostly office work with possible work in the field to engage trail users and volunteers, depending on the needs and desires of the right candidate.

Hollow Oak Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1991 that protects and connects greenspace in the Pittsburgh Airport Corridor by acquiring and managing land for wildlife habitat, public recreation and environmental education. We own six conservation areas totaling over 400 acres in Moon, Kennedy, North Fayette, Robinson, and Franklin Park.

The Marketing & Communications Intern at Hollow Oak will be responsible for organizing, facilitating and implementing a variety of small-to-large projects requiring different levels of interpersonal, organizational and computer skills. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Assist with production of PR and marketing materials, such as press releases and brochures.
  2. Develop and implement communications strategies.

  •   Intern is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementing and participating in any fundraising events during internship.

WINTER/SPRING 2016 INTERNSHIP

Overview

The Senator John Heinz History Center is currently seeking creative, motivated and outgoing applicants for its winter/spring 2016 internship in the museum’s Communications Department.

Qualified applicants should be in their sophomore, junior or senior years and pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.  Specific interest in history and prior internship experience is a plus.

Description of duties

Interns will be exposed to a variety of marketing communications experiences in a diverse, upbeat museum atmosphere.

Interns will work directly with the Communications Department to assist with various duties, including but not limited to media list development; media relations; professional writing; brochure design and development; event planning; media monitoring and clipping; website management; and proactive idea development.

The interns will work closely to promote existing exhibits inside the History Center, Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, and the Fort Pitt Museum through a variety of public relations, advertising and marketing tactics.

Hours

Interns will be expected to work a minimum of 20-25 hours per week.

The internship is unpaid and for credit only.
