Editorial Internship Opportunity

Publications, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh
Primary Function
Assist in the creation and production of visitor-oriented publications—from books, exhibition catalogues, and object labels, to website content, blog posts, and special projects. Interns also provide administrative support in the day-to-day editorial operations of the Publications Department.
Experience
Training in English writing, journalism, or communications is preferred, with knowledge of visual art and cultural issues desirable. Individuals must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented. Good communication and word-processing skills are required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (basic Word and Excel database skills). Familiarity with WordPress and Adobe Photoshop preferred, as well as working knowledge of social media. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
Internship Description
- Write and edit posts for the CMOA Blog.
- Assist with proofreading and copyediting of book projects.
- Ensure that publications adhere to museum’s institutional style.
- Assist with cmoa.org edits and updates.
- Size and format images for cmoa.org and the CMOA Blog.
- Assist with the copyediting and design of object labels from the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
- Update shared editorial calendar between the Publications and Marketing departments.
- Transcribe audio interviews.
- Perform miscellaneous administrative duties related to the day-to-day editorial operations of the Publications Department.
The internships are part-time (6-12 hrs per week) and unpaid.
