Graphic & Web design for art installation

I am looking for a design student for the following project:

“I feel safe when ____” is a project of Professor Jennifer Edwards who teaches entrepreneurship, history and improvisation in the dance department at PPU. Through this project she is exploring both the development of collective stories, the creation of safe space, and the application of choreographic principles to data organization and sharing.

Project Title: “I feel safe when ____”

Description: “I feel safe when _____” is a choreographed, experiential data installation that explores what “safe” feels like. The project began as a one-to-one exchange, using postcards to collect over 200 ‘I feel safe when’ statements (statements can be read here: www.visitinghoursproject.com). It is now time to digitalize the exchange process and develop a data base to house statements, so that the data can then be choreographed using an algorithm and installed in a space. Through the installation people will experience a collective story of safety in a space designed to put them at ease.

Project scope:

– design a cohesive visual brand

– design a wiki

– assist in choosing and setting up a data base that is ‘fed’ by the wiki

– assist in a website redesign

– create an infograph that outlines the project

Photo gallery creation for computer labs

If you still have students looking for positions, I could use a photography student. I would like to find a student that would be in charge of creating a photo gallery for one or two computer labs. The student would determine a theme, take and edit the photos, work with internal departments to get the photos printed up, and eventually hang the completed work in the labs. I would work with them in regards to the direction of the project and providing necessary resources, but they would really be handling everything from start to finish.

Graphic Design practicum for Media Services

The Media Services office has been toying with revamping our equipment/venue training binders for our office staff to use.  It is quite an undertaking for any of our professional staff to do and would be wonderful if we could have a student take on this task.  Here is the breakdown:

Create a How-To reference guide of our classroom smart podiums (one will cover all), each venue, and Lobbies (one will cover all).  The guide will include pictures and step-by-step instructions for use and set up for our in office staff. Professional staff will write the instructions, but the Practicum student will take the pictures of the venues and equipment and incorporate them with the instructions.  The final product will work much like a user’s manual.  We have an old version that needs to be updated with new equipment and rooms for reference.  I will be on hand to assist the student and help with the instructions. We are not looking for a bland “Ikea” like instructions but rather creativity and quirkiness.
